After months of studying, investigation, frustration, highs and lows;
I have found my niche. I am an affiliate marketer. Big deal, right?
Well, it is actually. And I’m going to tell you why. I know what you’re thinking,
it’s the money. Nope. Don’t get me wrong, making a living is what any business is about. For me (if you read my bio) you’ll know that is more than true. In fact, like all of you, money (the necessity of it) is why I began this journey online. Here’s what a thousand hours have taught me. If you want to say “give me the money” – you have to be able to say it to someone. If you are operating in a vacuum, without someone to give you fresh air and light your path, success can be as elusive as catching sunbeams.
The Miracle of the Simple Truth is that I have found a way to keep my sanity and grow my business. I have friends. Others may call them mentors, coaches or a host of things. In the past several months, I have come to think of these amazing professionals as my friends. Why? The definition of a friend in Webster’s Dictionary is “one attached to another by esteem – support – mentor.” Even the dictionary validates my presumption in calling the folks my newest friends.
Here’s the thing. I am going to tell you who they are. No, they do not know I am writing this article. It is quite likely they will never read this. It matters not.
What does matter is that you learn about them. I promise you that they really can and want to make us successful: if you model them; if you do the work; if you are persistent; and; if you do not give up or give in. They can light your path to financial freedom! They have all earned my utmost respect. These are my mentors; my partners in business and I their loyal affiliate.
Here is how my week led me to write this and share it with you:
I had a one-on-one call with Dan Kuschell, founder of Prosperity Based Living. He was, as always both kind and patient. It was late in the evening and, as happens when I speak with him, his voice was cracking with fatigue at the end of a very long day talking to his students. He listened to what I had to say and made four crucial suggestions on how to further improve my business. Believe me when I tell you that I started them immediately at the end of our call. When this extremely successful renowned speaker and consultant makes time for me in his hectic schedule, making suggestions, only a fool would fail to follow through! Not only is he helpful, he actually listens and encourages his protégés to see the very best in their potential.
Next, like so many other times, I fired emails back and forth to Dan’s Director of Coaching. Ryan is at our disposal by phone, fax and email. Without him, even this blog would not have gotten off the ground. He accepts with patience questions from a newbie like myself as if they are not ones he has heard and answered a hundred times before. He is supportive, enthusiastic and this week alone has suffered through my questions while answering me with encouragement – making me feel better able to continue my quest. I am proud to be affiliated with these men and with the Prosperity Based Living Protégé Program.

The next step in my week was a mentoring call with someone through whom I was introduced to Dan and, as luck would have it, was once mentored by him as well! She is the very first person in whose company I became an affiliate. In fact, it was through her organization that I earned my very first affiliate check! Her name is Mary Gersten, the founder of Global Cash Flow Network. Her story about struggle and rebuilding a life for she and her four children was the reason I became interested in affiliate marketing. I understood her adversities and related to her strength. As my friend (remember the definition)she has become one of my personal heroines.
I was privileged to join her on a live call very late in the evening. Even a power outage in my neighbourhood did not dampen my learning. I made notes in the pitch blackness so as not to miss a moment of training! Following her tips to the letter, I called one of her many superb coaches to get some help. Jan (a terrific Level 2 coach) led me through some big issues, put me in touch with the answers I needed and followed up with my progress the following Monday morning. Between the coaches, Daniel (my favourite support guy), the Director of Quality Services, Wade and Director of Support, Melissa, I have gone from zero to becoming a Certified Media Placement Specialist in a few short months! Who knew? Mary knew. In fact, she guaranteed it.
Remember she and Dan are not mystics. They are experts who will guide you but cannot force you to be a success. It’s all about you – about what you do with what they so generously give you. Do the work. Mary gave me direction in my journey to reinvent myself.

Finally, it is the coaching that amazes me. These industry leaders challenge us to learn all of their success secrets by modeling them precisely so that we can be where we want to be and get where we are going. Free Traffic Solutions
Not one for doing anything the easy way, I have once again spent countless hours discovering where and how to find free advertising opportunities in the hopes that my research will help others to avoid this time consuming process.
For now, I think I'd like to let you know about traffic exchanges. Again, this may be old news to many but, if it is not, feel free to pick up this information and use it if you find it to be of value to your business.
The long and the short of it is that traffic exchanges are just what they sound like. You join, others visit your site on the ad network. You "surf others' sites and get advertising credits for doing so to apply to your ad and keep it in rotation on the traffic exchange.
There are hundreds if not thousands of traffic exchanges out there. Some are really good, others - not so much. Good or indifferent, they are limited (free remember?) and can be downright bad for you if you get caught in the "surfing time warp"! The key is to find the ones that give you the most credits for the least effort, get in, assign your credits and get out.
I highly recommend that you pick a specific and limited time each week to surf; therefore getting it all out of the way. Otherwise, you will get nothing else done and feel frustrated beyond belief at the time lost for other more important things. When managed properly, however, they will get traffic to your site. Because we are talking about FREE advertising, your budget will not be strained. The downside being, the traffic you get will not be of the highest quality and as mentioned, surfing is time consuming.
So, if you can afford, buy or trade credits and your ads will be automatically distributed without further effort. I have personally added about twenty thousand visitors to my sites using traffic exchanges.
Oh, by the way, there are some exchanges that are "auto-surf capable" but be careful, there are lots of folks out there who click auto-surf and never look at a single ad. It is just a way for them to build credits. On the whole I do not recommend them unless they have an anti-cheat mechanism.
And, finally, although there is a lot more that could be said, I am going to give you some of my picks. It is absolutely true that I will benefit if you chose any of these referrals (we're a business after all). However, I will never recommend anything I do not truly believe to be a good opportunity!

Email Fraud - Protecting the Vulnerable

Today, I was inducted into the nasty world of email fraud. It made me angry enough to take action and I thought some helpful information might be appropriate with this warning. Here you will see a portion of the email that I received. Rather than simply deleting it, I felt it was important enough to do several things.

We got your Email contact from our professional data base randomly picked from your website by our computer random selection draws. Your email address was luckily picked by our computer after series of search. So you have been approved to claim the said amount specified on the winning notification mail sent to you.

If you ever get email from an unknown source offering absurd amounts of money, sit still and in a few days, a second email will follow with "instructions" on claiming your prize. They always include a politely worded demand for an amount of money from you up front. At that moment, stop. It is a scam. Here are a couple of
tips on things we can all do upon receiving an email of this kind. If the email address is from Yahoo; send a report to either spoof@yahoo.com or phishing@cc.yahoo-inc.com. Ask them to conduct an investigation. The least that can happen is that they will shut the address down. If we all report enough enough, it will slow down their attempts and perhaps our email providers will provide better protection. Obviously, you should have antivirus, spyware, spam and phishing protection (although I have all of them and this one got through)! Next, fire off an email to all of your contacts and ask that they do the same. You'd be surprised at the way those numbers can multiply thus limiting victims by the thousands.
The biggest clue & the dumbest thing they did was to use the actual logo for the UK National Lottery - national being the key word - not International.
Of interest is the fact that I clicked on the logo and got the real UK Lottery &, sure enough, they have warnings posted about fraudulent emails but tell you not to bother letting them know about it which I believe is irresponsible - but what do I know?

In Search of Freedom
Welcome to the Freedom Search,
Close your eyes for just a sec and tell me if you remember the freedom of wind in your hair and sun on your face? Can you recall the wonderful smell of babies hair or a puppy's breath? The freedom of their innocence? That moment when you climb into bed on sheets that have been dried outside or walked into a kitchen filled with the marvelous fragrance of home baked bread? Or that free feeling on the first day of summer vacation as you ran out of school?
True freedom is more than just a desire. It is a memory. A snippet of time. Distant and compelling. Something we search for, think about and wish we could recapture, run to and find again - FREEDOM! You likely do remember the feeling of those moments of freedom and yet, although those memories are warm and comforting, when was the last time you stopped .......
...... a long time ago, I'll bet. Why? What is it about our human condition that causes us to lose our focus, to shift the best of our experiences and memories to the back of a dusty corner in our minds? We are no longer free. How is it possible that we can lose sight of what matters - and worse - not realize that we have done so? I believe we have are burdened by events that have become so overwhelming it is simply easier to hide inside of other things than to face the day to day stresses that mark this journey.
I can no longer watch the news. Our world, yours and mine, is changing. We face obstacles previously unknown to any other generation. Do you realize there are folks born since 1980 who have never lived without the threat of AIDS? Can anyone imagine a time before children shot children in school? Or when buildings did not tumble upon themselves from the sky? Is it any wonder that we plug ourselves into our work, come home exhausted, sit in front of a machine (that great and terrible invention of we humans) and lose ourselves in that other world? In search of some alternate freedom?
Before you leave and consider jumping out a window, please stop.....
and listen..... to what I know.
I know that we are good and decent people striving to evolve. I know we have been born of a generous spirit, with loving hearts. I know that when the worst things happen, the best of us emerges. That despite it all we search for hope, immerse ourselves in faith and believe there is a better way if only we could find it.
How do I know all of this? I am not smarter than anyone else, nor am I more caring nor more anything at all. I am simply human. And being human has taught me compassion and having compassion has taught me empathy and being empathetic has taught me what I know. And, you guessed it, we want freedom.
Here's something else I know - now - there are remedies. If you are like the rest of just about everyone I know, then I would wager everything that you are searching for some relief. Freedom to do, to have, to be. And that's where we come together. You and I.
I have spent a great deal of time in a very successful career that promised to take me up the corporate ladder as far as I chose to go. Then BAM it was over. I was sick. So, because I refuse to give in or give up, onward I went into a business..... where..... even an optimist like me was destined to fail. And fail I did! Big, big time. So, I went from determined to desperate in what seemed like seconds. I could barely breathe! Successful people do not fail - HA!
Here's what I really do know. Do not quit. Do not give up on you! Promise yourself that every day. You will believe in you. You will work for you. You will harvest your energies and invest them in you! That's what I did. But not alone. I got lucky. I found a mentor. My mentor introduced me to another mentor. That mentor was my mentor's mentor (you follow)?
So, here's where we are. If you are convinced that you are where you want to be, then be there. If you are convinced that you have to slave away for someone else, then please do so. If you believe that you cannot change, be changed or change someone else's life, than feel free to so believe!
BUT. If you want to be more, to do more, to feel more, to have more, to share more, then I promise you there are opportunities. Glorious opportunities that can pull you out of the place where freedom is an unknown and into an avenue where you drive and own the car!
And, I am going to help you find them all. Please give yourself a break. Put your faith in you. Trust yourself.
Listen. Hear. See. Feel. Breathe..... and Trust.
Take a moment to digest this. I want to hear from all of you. If you are ready to break free, then let me know. There are rewards, surprises and bonuses to be discovered and a new lifestyle to live. If you trust in you.
I want you to take advantage of me; of what I have discovered in these thousands of hours in my search for freedom. There are very different freedoms for which we search. My search began because of a desperate financial situation. I had to find a way to get out of this spiral of fear, debt and doubt. But what I got was something much bigger. So much more important. I got me back. I learned things about how to feel better each day; about how to view my life as a lifestyle rather than an existence!
I discovered these things because of others. Because my mentors reached out and said, "you are not alone we will walk with you." They inspire me, challenge me and tempt me to believe I can do this. I can build a future, and some day very soon, find my true freedom. And on my journey, I made myself a promise. I will find others who need a coach - a mentor. Someone who truly understands their desperation and feels their fears and frustrations.
So, my fellow freedom searchers, here we are. We have found each other against all odds and in the face of a world of complacency. I am going to urge you to take the first step. To meet my first mentor, to experience what she knows, how she knows it and what she can do for you.
I am going to help change the direction of your life. To move you into a different place and time. I am going to coach you to challenge yourself - but most of all - I am going to share everything I have learned with you. If you want it, it is here.
